We can’t do it without you. By fundraising for Newlife, you’re providing disabled children and their families with the support, equipment and play that can help them thrive.

How you can raise funds for Newlife

Ready to get started? Here are some of the ways you can get involved.

Host a collection tin

Have you got a space such as a shop counter or office break room where you could place a collection tin? Collection tins are a simple and effective way to raise money.

Celebrate a special occasion

Many of our supporters celebrate birthdays, Christenings, weddings, and other special occasions by encouraging their loved ones to make a donation to Newlife. You can ask for donations in lieu of gifts or have collection tins or donation pages for your special event.

Pam Ling

Pam Ling, from Surrey, began supporting Newlife after meeting an 11-year-old boy whose sit-to-stand wheelchair meant he could go to high school with his friends — and reach the biscuit tin at home, a simple joy his mum had longed to see.

“That moment showed me what Newlife does,” said Pam. “It enhances life for children and their families, from beds that protect parents and carers’ backs, to toys that help children play and car seats that keep a child safely supported so they can breathe properly. The sooner a child receives the equipment they need, the sooner they can reach their full potential.”

Over the past 17 years, Pam has hosted annual lunches and fashion shows as well as other events, raising an astonishing £78,300 for Newlife, helping disabled children and their families access the support and equipment they need. However, she now needs to scale back – making this year’s show her last.

I love what Newlife does and what it stands for – that’s why I have fundraised for so many years and why tell everyone I can about it. I have a lovely group of friends, and they’ve become as involved with the charity as I am.

You never know who might pass Newlife’s name on to a family who needs help. I hate to think of anyone struggling without knowing Newlife is there for them. I always encourage people to get involved and do what they can to help Newlife.

Ellie Hance

Elly Hance has raised over £65,000 for Newlife over the past 13 years – an amazing amount achieved through a with a wide range of fundraising events from sponsored walks to a Santa Dash.

Elly, from the Northamptonshire and friend Rosemary Skinner first heard about Newlife when she saw a newspaper article about a child the charity had helped. Overwhelmed by the difference funding for equipment and support can make to the lives of a disabled child and their family, she knew she had to help.

It’s an amazing feeling, being able to help a child in need. That’s what drives me on – helping the next child receive equipment which can be quite simply life changing. That’s why I urge people to fundraise for Newlife.

Fundraising FAQs

Start by setting a fundraising target amount
Decide which activity you will do to raise the money, e.g. host a bake sale or five-a-side tournament, or run a marathon (remember to get permission if you need it and if you’re planning on doing a challenge like a marathon ensure you can secure a space before collecting any money)
Organise your activity and plan how you’ll collect money (e.g. will you set up a JustGiving page for people to donate online, or collect cash on the day?)
Communicate clearly with those donating what the money is for, how much you’re trying to raise, and how they can donate. Don’t forget to tell them to opt into Gift Aid!
Contact our fundraising team and let them know what you’re doing and when – we might be able to help you spread the word!
Do your activity.
After the event, let our team know how much you’ve raised and pay in your money (details of how to do that below).
Don’t forget to communicate with all those who donated to let them know how much they helped to raise.

Once you’ve completed your fundraiser, here are some ways you can pay it in:

Online: visit our donate page and do it instantly online – be sure to email [email protected] to tell us who to send the Thank you to.
JustGiving: if you set up a JustGiving page everything happens automatically. The money is sent to us, Gift Aid collected, job done!
Facebook: if you set up your own Facebook Fundraising page, select us as your charity and it will automatically send the money directly to us.
Post a cheque: If you would like to send us a cheque or CAF voucher our address is Newlife Centre, Hemlock Way, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 7GF. Please remember to include your details (name, address, phone number and any details about the gift).
By phone: Contact the fundraising team on 01543 462 777 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Cash: we’d advise against sending cash by post. If you receive cash, we’d recommend depositing it into your bank account and either donating online (link to donate page) or sending us a cheque in the post. Make sure to include a note with your name and contact details so that we can thank you!

By opting into Gift Aid, you’ll be helping us to claim 25% on top of your donation at no extra cost to you or the people who participate in your events or sponsor you. A Gift Aid declaration is simply a statement that the donor is an individual, who is a UK taxpayer and gives the charity permission to claim back the tax on the donation. Please note, you can only add Gift Aid to personal donations.

We can only claim Gift Aid on funds if we have the name, address and the amount donated by each donor.

If you are raising funds offline (cash), you must use a paper sponsorship form. Please don’t forget to send your completed sponsorship forms to us so we can claim the Gift Aid.

If you’re doing a sponsored activity, your sponsors need to:

Tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you.
Write their full name and title (minimum of initial and surname).
Include their home address (house number/name and postcode is the minimum requirement we need to be able to claim Gift Aid).
Avoid ditto marks. If a number of sponsors live at the same address, they must each complete the address and postcode fields.
The name, amount, address and postcode fields must be filled out in the sponsor’s own handwriting.
Donate individually. You cannot make joint donations, for example from Mr and Mrs XX, as the HMRC needs to know who the taxpayer is.
To ensure that we can claim Gift Aid on your donations, please let us know that you give us your permission.
