Following sustained campaigning, changes came into force on 9 March 2015 to the ‘Use of Invalid Carriages’ rules within the Road Traffic Act 1988, increasing the permitted weight limit (up to 200kg when additional weight is from necessary user equipment). This helped more disabled children and young people access modern, hi-tech powered wheelchairs.
