Before you sell equipment
Before you think about selling any equipment, it is important to check who owns it.
If the equipment was provided by the NHS or another local authority, it usually cannot be sold. These items often remain the property of the organisation that supplied them, even if they are no longer being used.
If the equipment was bought privately or provided by a charity, selling it may be an option. However, we recommend speaking to the organisation that supplied the equipment first. They can advise you about ownership and any rules that may apply.

If you decide to sell equipment, please be aware that fraudsters may try to take advantage of people selling items online. Advice about how to stay safe:
- Take your time and do not feel pressured to accept an offer.
- There is no obligation to sell to someone if you are unsure.
- Be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true.
- Use trusted selling websites and follow their safety advice.
- Never share personal or financial information that is not needed for the sale.
- If possible, arrange to meet buyers in a safe, public place.
