At Newlife we’re always striving to do our best. That means working hard to support the disabled children and their families that are the focus of the charity. But it also means supporting the communities that shop in our stores. Customers flock to us for brand new high-street bargains. That’s why we are so proud to be shortlisted for two business awards!
The Third Sector Business Charity Awards celebrate charities and businesses that work together to do amazing things.
Newlife’s first nomination is for the charity’s work with iconic brand Superdry. Superdry has been a partner of Newlife since 2016. Together, we transform their stock donations into environmental and social impact. The initiative supports Superdry’s zero-to-landfill commitment by diverting stock from landfill or incineration. Superdry’s donation so far stands at nearly 100,000 garments. These products help to generate sustainable income for Newlife.
Superdry stock has exceeded £2 million in value over the last ten years. This contribution funds life-changing equipment and support for disabled children. This partnership shows how resuing stock can cut textile waste and raise charity funds. Together, Superdry and Newlife deliver real measurable environmental and social impact.
The second nomination is in the ‘Best response to the cost-of-living crisis’category. We worked with retailers like Matalan to sell brand-new school uniforms at low prices.
Matalan donated extra school uniform stock after a packaging change. Instead of going to waste, these items were sent to Newlife stores.
This meant:
- Less waste going to landfill
- More affordable uniforms for families
- High-quality clothes at lower prices
At a time when the cost-of-living was a significant concern for families, this support made a big difference.
Newlife will continue to find meaningful ways to help our retail partners in their quest for sustainability. Providing our local communities with affordable options when prices are rising is also a priority.
Retail partners and customers for our stores are both so important when to comes to our mission to help families with disabled children. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to provide the life changing equipment and support for so many disabled children and their families.
